Seboba or "Chihuha in Sisubiya or "Sivuva in Lozi" means " A place of Rapids" the rapids are gentle, they provide soothing visual setting along with gentle sounds that will make you relaxed
This park is a must visit if you visit Kasane, Kazungula and Chobe Park. It's quite professional in the way its set up. A gate where you enter has staff that will register you, there is small fee, then direct you where to go. You can walk in or bring your vehicle. The front of the park is fenced in to prevent migration of the animals however they can access the park via the river bank. Once in the gate there is lots of parking on a modern paved area with proper spots where to park.
The park is located on the main tar road approximately 2 km from Kasane center towards Zambia. Easy to walk or a short drive for anyone visiting. Well marked with good signage you can't miss it.
There is a "Fantastic shop" where you can get information on what to do and where to go, you can even hire a guide if one is available when you arrive.
Lots of things to see inside the large thatched complex with Information desk, Curios shop, cultural artifacts, local crafts, books, poetry gifts,souvenirs, clothing etc. She shop features a spacious well laid out area showing indigenous making methods, you can also purchase some these items. Support the local artists by making a purchase, prices are very very reasonable. A nice booklet is available that has a map and details of what to see and do. A good idea to bring some water and bug repellent, of course sunscreen and most of all your Camera !
Once you have taken a few pleasant moments in the majestic building you have a few options, take the river walk, go to the cultural village, check out the view point or see what might be going on at the theater. The park is approx 2 km long.
The River Walk might be your best choice to start. You start the walk along an elevated walkway with railings, enjoy super views of the Chobe River, the rapids and stunning mother nature is easy on the eyes. Keep an eye out for the tons or birds that make this area both home and special nesting spot for lots of the species. The walk has several viewpoints with benches , both elevated and just along the ground pathway. Of course be careful as your surrounded by mother nature, at the end of the walking path there is even 2 picnic spots with benches, wash up, facilities, braii area with a lovely covered hut with nice views. Both male and female toilets are there as well as monkey proof trash bins.
That part of the nature park can take from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on how long you stop to take things in and how fast you walk. You return to the main center.
The Traditional Cultural Village might be your best option for the 2nd part of this easy going journey. 4 huts were constructed using local materials & methods by the tribes, men and women. These 4 huts represent Basubiya, Banamibia, Basarwa & Batawan cultures. See the way way they sleep, store food, where they share the communal area for entertainment, meetings, dance, storytelling and traditional games.
Commissioners Kop
The highest viewpoint spot is near the theater, a nice round platorm with railings made from local materials. Fantastic 360 views of the Chobe River, Village, and even Impalila Island in Namibia. Spectacular trees surround this hi point with ample scenic photographic opportunities. The name for this special spot was given as the favorite resting spot for the First President of Botswana, Sir Seretse Khama. Its a must visit and again bring your camera !
Theater / Performance Arena
A beautiful modern multi purpose complex complimented by traditional thatched roof. This is where cultural entertainment performances are done. Traditional song, dance and poetry are often enjoyed here. The theater has tierd seating so all can see and enjoy the entertainment. Check at the information desk for upcoming events and performances
